About Us

Stemilt Growers, Inc., headquartered in Wenatchee, Wash., is a family-owned tree fruit grower-packer-shipper. As one of the leaders in U.S. tree fruit, we ship nearly 12 percent of Washington's apples each year and 10 percent of the pears from the Northwest. Stemilt is also the nation's leading sweet-cherry shipper, supplying 25 percent of the sweet cherries grown in Washington.

Tom Mathison established Stemilt Growers in 1964 with the help of a small group of Stemilt Hill growers. They built a packing house on Stemilt Hill overlooking the town of Wenatchee, Washington, with the goal of having better control over the quality of the end-product in the marketplace.

Today, Stemilt is solely owned by the Mathison family, and delivering the best-quality product is still at the forefront of what we do. Tom Mathison still actively leads the company, serving as Stemilt's Chairman of the Board. His children and grandchildren are Stemilt's principle officers, and Tom's grandson West Mathison serves as Stemilt's president.

The family carries on the traditions that Tom began -- operating efficiently and effectively in order to deliver the best eating experience to consumers with the least impact on the environment. We are a vertically integrated company that is progressive. Constantly seeking for better methods, Stemilt strives to deliver greater returns to the land in an atmosphere employing solid business ethics and moral principles.
