Jonagold apples originated in 1968 at the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva, New York. Jonagold apples are a cross between Golden Delicious and the Jonathan, an old American variety from the 1820’s. With over 70 different strains, Jonagold ranges in color from pale green-gold with red stripes to solid red.

Jonagold apples are crisp, juicy and tangy-sweet. They are harvested by Stemilt in September. Jonagold is considered one of the most preferred dessert apples in the world.
