Concorde Pear

The Concorde pear, developed in England and is now grown in the U.S.

Concorde pears are a marriage between the Conference pear and Comice.  Confererence pears, popular in Europe, shows resemblence to the familiar Bosc by its elongated shape and russeted skin.  The Comice is well known in the United States for its abundant juice and sweetness.

Combining the best of both varieties, this green variety carries the beautiful shape and crisp texture of the Conference (with less russeting) and much of the mellow sweetness of the Comice.  Concordes are very slow to oxidize, or turn brown, when cut.

When paired with wine and cheese, Concorde goes well with:

  • Aged White Cheddar
  • Cabernet Sauvignon
or
  • Brie
  • Riesling

Also look for Concorde point of sale materials at your marketplace to highlight this great pear variety.
