Classic Pear Crisp

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 4 tbsp butter, softened
  • 8 Stemilt pears, cored, peeled and sliced
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

Pear crisp is the perfect dessert for the fall and winter season.

Instructions

For the filling

  1. Toss pears with lemon juice and ginger in a mixing bowl.
  2. Then mix together sugar and flour and sprinkle over pears.
  3. Toss everything to mix the filling.
  4. Spoon into a lightly buttered baking dish.

For the crumb topping

  1. Mix together sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  2. Using a pastry blender or two knives, cut butter in mixture until it resembles fine crumbs.
  3. Sprinkle over pears
  4. Bake in 375 degree oven for 30-45 minutes until pears are tender and mixture is bubbling.
