Meet the Douglas Family

|

The Douglases are a tight-knit fourth-generation farming family who own and operate Douglas Fruit in Pasco, Washington. Their farming roots date back to the 1890s in Washington state. Today, the family grows and packs many great varieties of Stemilt apples and Artisan Organics® peaches, nectarines and apricots in the beautiful Tri Cities locale.

Back in 2007, the Douglas family and Stemilt transitioned its entire crop of peaches and nectarines to organic production. They took most of their apricots organic at that time too. The Douglases believed that – when combined with the ideal arid climate of their farming locales – the natural farming practices used in organic production would produce peaches, nectarines and apricots with more complex flavors and textures, and one incredible dessert flavor experience.

Their gamble paid off, and today peaches and nectarines from Stemilt continue to be all-organic. The experience passed down from generations before them and the Douglases’ commitment to flavor-first fruit helps them successfully farm peaches, nectarines and apricots organically year after year.
Taste the difference with Stemilt’s Artisan Organics® summer fruits available from late July through September.
