More Apple and Pear Snacks, More Spring Recipes, More Winter Recipes

What is your go-to snack item? Do you have one or many so you can appease every mood? Being mindful of your health and choosing healthy items to snack on while keeping it fun and flavorful can be a little tricky. How do you ensure your taste buds stay happy but you feed your body the nutrients it needs to thrive? Not sure? Well, keep reading for some delicious snacks for mindful eating.

When I have time to slow down enough to be mindful of what I am eating and I am craving a snack for my girls and me, apples tend to be my go-to. My two-year-old loves apples, especially when we pair them with peanut butter. And my one-year-old loves chopping on thin slices (fully supervised of course) especially now as she is getting her molars in and her chewing ability has reached a new level

When thinking up of ways to keep them happy, I go to The Stem blog often for recipe inspiration. After partnering with so many wonderful content partners over the years, we have come up with an online recipe book FULL of great apple, pear, cherry and stone fruit recipes that are hard to beat. But when it comes to apples, I have a few fall-back snack options for mindful eating that my kids never get tired of.

Sliced Apple Boats – I absolutely love this sliced apple boat recipe. There are endless possibilities when it comes to toppings and my two-year-old loves to get creative in the kitchen with me and decorate her own boats (and when I say decorate, capsize with endless amounts of granola, peanut butter, chocolate chips and whatever else we can find in the house that day). It’s a fun and tasty way to eat healthy while making the experience fun of prepping our food fun.

Chocolate Dipped Apple Slices – While these may not scream healthy right off the bat, they aren’t terrible, especially if you opt for dark chocolate. These Chocolate Dipped Apple Slices satisfy your taste buds while still creating a fun experience in the kitchen with your littles. Again, topping options can be endless – coconut, sliced almonds, granola – you name it! Anything is be fair game.

Another snacking option that will never go out of style is just eating an apple straight out of hand. The beauty of apples is they are mother nature’s way of providing us a healthy, flavorful snack that our bodies and mind can use to their advantage. It’s no secret, but apples are FULL of health benefits making them the ideal snack to energize us through the day. Plus, they come in eating form right off the bat – no slicing requiredunless you want too! And how do you beat the endless flavorful options? From Fuji to Pink Lady® there is an apple flavor that fits every mood.
