I get it – I used to shy away from salads in the winter too. Living in New England, with frigid temps in the winter, I would gravitate toward warm meals.
That is until I realized that there were plenty of delicious seasonal ingredients that could make a salad taste just right for the winter months. Think shaved Brussels sprouts, kale, pomegranate, citrus, persimmons, sweet potatoes, carrots, apples, and pears.

We’re all looking for easy, convenient, and time-saving recipes. Yet, we don’t want to compromise on taste or nutrition. And we shouldn’t have to! This salad is packed with fiber, vitamin C, potassium, copper, antioxidants, unsaturated fat, and protein.
Five-Ingredient Pear Salad
This pear salad recipe calls for only five ingredients beyond the spring mix base: pomegranate, mandarin oranges, pear, gorgonzola cheese, and pistachios. The pomegranate, mandarins, and D’Anjou pear provide sweet flavor and complementary textures, the gorgonzola adds a creamy, rich element, and the pistachios pack in a satisfying crunch. A simple, balanced white wine vinaigrette brings it all together.
