Money & Time Saving Tips for Juicing

|

As healthy as it is, juicing can be quite an event! It involves multiple ingredients, electronics and money that can deter people from the greater benefits of juice. However, juicing doesn’t have to be expensive or time-consuming. Here are a few tips to save you both minutes and money while you do your juice thing.

Tip #1: Buy In Bulk

Fruit, especially when not in season, can get expensive. Not many people think to buy their fruit in bulk because of the shelf life on produce, but one of the best ways to save money on juicing ingredients is to buy large quantities when fruit is on sale or in season. Many fruits come in packs, allowing juicing lovers to buy their favorite ingredients at a lower price. Our Fresh Blenders, a bag of apples that is ideal for juicing and smoothies, is a perfect example of a great way to save money by buying in bulk. Any leftover fruit can be stored in refrigerator or freezer, preserving it for later usage.

Tip #2: Plan Your Juices

Juicing takes time due to the preparation required of certain fruits (peeling, coring, etc.), but one way to cut out prep time during the week is to prepare each batch of juicing ingredients ahead of time. The easiest way is to compile them into individual Ziploc bags or containers. When prepping apples in advance, be sure to drizzle lemon juice over them to prevent the fruit from browning once its cut. We recommend prepping a recipe such as our Green Detox Juice with Sweet Apples. When you’re hankering for a juice, just grab your recipe-ready Ziploc of fruits and veggies and run each ingredient through your juicer!

Tip #3: Use Leftovers and Scraps

What do you do with leftover fruits and veggies? It may not seem like it makes a difference, but saving leftover scraps – the half an apple you didn’t eat or those celery stalks that weren’t used for your latest soup creation. – can add both volume and fantastic flavor to your juices. For instance, using the remainder of the apple is a great way to add extra flavor to your recipe, plus apples are loaded with healthful stuff (see our recent post on the benefits of apples). Just throw any leftover fruit and veggie scraps into a freezer bag to stock pile ingredients, which will help you cut back on the bulk ingredients you use in your juice while adding a twist to each recipe.
