St. Patrick’s Day is coming up fast, so it’s time to shamrock-and-roll with some family fun St. Patrick’s Day recipes! Whether you’re in the mood for fresh-baked Apple Cinnamon Rolls or a refreshing green smoothie, you’ve come to the right place. Your family and friends can celebrate beyond wearing the typical green clothing! On top of some of our favorite St. Patrick’s Day recipes, our friend Chelsea has a new recipe to add to the collection: Sticky Pear Pudding.
A New St. Patrick’s Day Recipe
Sticky Pear Pudding is a delicious British dessert that consists of moist cake, dates, and a toffee flavored sauce. We took the already delicious concoction an extra mile by adding one of our favorite fruits: d’Anjou pears! D’Anjou pears are one of our favorites for baking. They’re juicy and citrusy and hold their flavor well, making them a perfect complement to the sweet dates and toffee sauce.
This cake falls somewhere between a fruit cake and a traditional cake. It’s not quite as dense as the fruit cakes you’re used to, but with plenty of butter and brown sugar, it has a lot of those same, delicious flavors. This recipe has a nifty shortcut for the toffee sauce. Before baking, you’ll top the batter with brown sugar, cubed butter, and the secret ingredient: boiling water. This will create a sauce at the bottom of the ramekins while the little cakes are baking!
We prefer using ramekin bowls for the Sticky Pear Pudding for a number of reasons: more crispy and gooey bits in each serving, built-in individual servings, and they’re dang cute! Serve this delicious pudding with plenty of vanilla ice cream and everyone will be asking for seconds, we promise.
More Family Fun Recipes for March 17
Do you know what else goes well with vanilla ice cream (besides practically any warm dessert?) Apple pie! What better way to celebrate than with a Traditional Irish Apple Pie. This pie is different from your typical apple pie in that you’ll be using grated apples instead of sliced ones! Topped with fluffy meringue, this pie is unbelievably moist and delectable.
Speaking of excellent desserts, our Irish Apple Cake with Whiskey Hard Sauce is perfect for enjoying on a cool March morning. This cake is light and fluffy, almost like bread! Enjoy it with a caramel whiskey sauce, or enjoy it by itself. Surprise your family with an early morning treat and we promise it will be gone before nightfall!
If you are looking for a healthier option to start out the day, we have a delicious Apple Shamrock Smoothie that is simple and ready in minutes. The apples and mangos are a perfect combination to mix with the green kale. This satisfying drink will leave everyone satisfied and full to get through the day!
