Easy Homemade Applesauce

Ingredients

  • 6 large apples
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp of cinnamon

Warm up on a winter night with homemade applesauce, or freeze and use during any point of the year.

Instructions

  1. Cut apples in eighths, leaving peels and core intact.
  2. In a large saucepan, combine apples, water and lemon juice. Bring to a boil.
  3. Once it boils, reduce heat and gently simmer (uncovered) until apples are very tender.
  4. Be sure to stir often. This should take between 20-30 minutes.
  5. Next, place a ricer, large screened sieve, or food mill over a mixing bowl.
  6. Push the apple mixture through the mill. Seeds and skin should not go through.
  7. Add sugar and cinnamon to apple puree. Taste and add sugar as needed.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy!
