- For Topping:
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup rolled oats
- 3/4 cup sliced almonds
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pure almond extract
- 8 tbsp butter, melted
- For Filling:
- 2 pounds Stemilt Rainier cherries, pitted
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
In a medium bowl, combine the topping ingredients and stir to combine. Set aside.
Grease the bottom of an oven-safe 10 to 12-inch skillet or baking dish. Add the cherries, sugar, cinnamon, and flour and stir until the cherries are coated. Cover the cherries with the topping mixture completely.
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until the top is golden and the filling is bubbly.
Remove and cool on a wire rack for at least 15 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
