Why Are Winter Salads Great?

If you’re more of a salad in the summer kind of person, this recipe is about to be a game-changer for you. A winter pear salad offers a reprieve for those that usually choose soup. I get it – I used to shy away from salads in the winter too. Living in New England, with frigid temps in the winter, I would gravitate toward warm meals.

That is until I realized that there were plenty of delicious seasonal ingredients that could make a salad taste just right for the winter months. Think shaved Brussels sprouts, kale, pomegranate, citrus, persimmons, sweet potatoes, carrots, apples, and pears.

If I haven’t convinced you yet, stay with me. This is not just any salad; it’s a five-ingredient winter pear salad. There’s a reason that three, four, five, and six-ingredient meals are so popular. We’re all looking for easy, convenient, and time-saving recipes. Yet, we don’t want to compromise on taste or nutrition. And we shouldn’t have to! This salad is packed with fiber, vitamin C, potassium, copper, antioxidants, unsaturated fat, and protein.

Five-Ingredient Pear Salad

This pear salad recipe calls for only five ingredients beyond the spring mix base: pomegranate, mandarin oranges, pear, gorgonzola cheese, and pistachios. The pomegranate, mandarins, and D’Anjou pear provide sweet flavor and complementary textures, the gorgonzola adds a creamy, rich element, and the pistachios pack in a satisfying crunch. A simple, balanced white wine vinaigrette brings it all together.

This winter pear salad makes for a delicious starter, a seasonal lunch, or a festive addition to a holiday menu! Try it out for yourself and come back to leave us a review!
