Father’s Day Filet Mignon with Cherry Balsamic Sauce

|

Father’s Day is just around the corner! If your dad loves steak as much as mine does, you should seriously consider trying this recipe for filet mignon with cherry balsamic sauce. He’ll go nuts for it! All of these flavors are incredibly complimentary together, and the results are nothing short of a restaurant quality meal. Pair it with a simple green vegetable such as steamed asparagus or roasted broccoli for a perfect meal.

There are technically two ways you can prepare this sauce. One is a beginner method, and the other way is a bit more advanced; it’s what’s known as a pan sauce. The instructions listed in the recipe below are for the beginner version. That is an easy sauce. Trust me, the results will still be delicious. If you want to kick things up a notch, try this: instead of preparing the sauce first, sear the steak in a large, flat-sided skillet or Dutch oven using the steps noted in the instructions below. Remove the steaks and allow them to rest. Pour off any excess fat in the pan, but don’t clean the pan. This is the key. Those brown bits you see clinging to the bottom? They’re known as fond, and they’ll make the cherry balsamic sauce taste even more amazing. Prepare the sauce according to the instructions below in the steak pan. You (and dad!) won’t be disappointed with this filet mignon with cherry balsamic sauce!
