What Is A Rave Apple?

Rave® kicks off the apple season as the first to harvest with outrageous juiciness, and an attitude to match! Its sweet and tart, and loved for its fuchsia-red color and incredible crunch.

Interior: Crisp and fine white flesh that is extremely juicy

Exterior: Beautiful bright red skin that nearly covers a yellow background

Parentage

Rave® is a cross between a Honeycrisp and MonArk (a variety from Arkansas). It was developed by David Bedford at the University of Minnesota. Stemilt adopted Rave® a few years back and has the exclusive rights to grow and market it in North America.

Early Bird

Apple season can start early with Rave®! Its the first to harvest in Washington state and lines up perfectly with back-to-school timing, fitting perfectly inside lunchboxes and back packs. Or, chop it up for a quick and healthy after-school snack for the kiddos!

Our Favorite Ways To Eat It!

Rave® apples might have a snappy attitude, but its not enough to take the heat of the oven. Rave® tastes the best when eaten fresh! Think salads, charcuterie boards, or simply sliced up alongside some nut butter.

Where Does It Grow?

Stemilt Rave® apples grow in central Washington state where long, sunny days color this apple with unmistakable fuchsia color. Rave® is also grown in New York by YES! Apples, Michigan by Applewood Fresh, and throughout Canada.

How We Pick The Best Ones

We carefully hand-pick Rave® at just the right time when sugars are high and ready to delight with its signature sweet and tart balanced flavor.

Putting Freshness & Flavor First

Because Rave® takes after its parent apple Honeycrisp, it has thinner skin (which gives it that snappy crunch) so we must take proper care of it from the tree to our warehouses. Once Rave® is ready to be packed into a bag or box, we adjust the packing line to carefully move it along, ensuring each apple is in tip-top shape!

6 Apple Cooking Tips Worth Trying
The other day I was commenting to someone how busy life has gotten now that I have kids. The leisurely evenings I once enjoyed have been replaced by T-ball practice, swim lessons, and getting a healthy dinner on the table before tucking the kids into bed. How to Dehydrate Apples
I was gifted a food dehydrator a few years back, and it’s been tucked away collecting dust bunnies until recently when I stocked up on apples to make apple chips. My hope was that I could curb the constant snack requests my kids have with something healthy and homemade. (Spoiler alert: they loved them, but […]
