Our Favorite Fourth of July Recipes

|

Can you believe that the 4th of July is almost here? Every year, it feels like it sneaks up on me faster than the year before! People tell me that time flies once you have kids and I will have to say, there is definitely some validity to that!

I’ve never really had 4th of July traditions as every year is usually different. The past several I have been working (it’s cherry season) but in the years prior when I was younger, my family and I would usually watch fireworks here in Wenatchee or head up to Lake Chelan to go boating. Now that I have a family of my own, I am always going to try and make one tradition stand each year, which is a delicious 4th of July recipe.

Below, I have rounded up a few of my favorites. From cake to salad, there is something in here for everyone! Have a favorite 4th of July dish you make year after year? Tell us in the comments below!

Sweet Cherry Vanilla Cake with Red, White & Blue Frosting – This cake is SO on theme with 4th of July! Not only is it cute to look at and adds a nice pop of color to a table full of treats, but it also can feed a crowd! It features a yummy, moist vanilla cake with dark-sweet cherries mixed throughout. Then it is topped with a red, white and blue swirl frosting! So festive and fun.

Cherry Berry Meringues – These adorable little bite-sized meringues are the perfect treat for any patriotic celebration. They are delicious, visually delightful and super easy to transport if you are going somewhere for the 4th!

Cherry Margarita & Mocktail – Can you really consider it a celebration if you don’t have something tasty to sip on? Refreshing and delicious, you can’t go wrong with either of these drinks. The Cherry Margarita uses all the basic ingredients of a margarita – lime juice, triple sec, a bit of agave nectar, and tequila. Plus, we included a splash of orange seltzer to give it some fizz and of course, a couple of World Famous dark-sweet cherries. The mocktail is basically the same, however, omit the tequila and triple sec. Regardless of the route you choose, you won’t regret it.

Apple & Pear Fruit Salad – If you are looking for a simple fruit salad recipe to include on your menu, this one should fit the bill. This features deliciously tart Pink Lady® apples and sweet d’Anjou pears, which make a wonderful “pear-ing.” HA! Anyway, it calls for basic, light mixture of coconut cream, maple syrup and lemon juice. Add in some poppy seeds, chopped grapes and voila! A delicious and simple fruit salad that any will gobble down.

Chocolate Cherry Ice Cream –I share this recipe with everyone because it’s that good. First of all, it’s ice cream so let’s face it – it’s perfect for summer. It features a delicious combination of Stemilt’s World Famous dark-sweet cherries and chocolate, all mixed into a creamy, delicious sweet cream ice cream that you can make at home! How delicious does that sound? Plus, this recipe is a good one to try out with the kids. Making homemade ice cream is such a fun process that any kid will enjoy doing!
