Pinata is a new apple variety grown exclusively for you by Stemilt Growers in Washington state.
Why Try Pinata Apples?Unique Flavor: Pinata's heirloom parentage (it's a cross between Golden Delicious, Cox's Orange Pippin, and the Duchess of Oldenburg varieties) gives the apple a unique flavor. Pinata apples are crisp and juicy with all the classic apple flavors that you love, and a unique tropical finish. Premium Quality: Pinata apples are grown with flavor and quality in mind. This apple thrives in eastern Washington's arid climate, where long, sunny days and cool nights precede harvest giving each Pinata apple a balanced sweet-tart flavor and crisp texture. Culinary Inspiration: If your curiosity isn't piqued yet, the culinary aspects of Pinata should do the trick. Pinata's thin skin makes it a standout in any apple dish you can dream up - slice it thinly to add flavor to a green salad, roast it with pork tenderloin for a filling entree, or use Pinata to make a classic apple pie. Meet the GrowersPinata apples are grown exclusively in eastern Washington by the Mathison family and a few other select Stemilt growers.
The Mathisons have a rich family farming legacy that dates back to 1893. That's when the first generation homesteaded 160 acres atop Stemilt Hill, a high-elevation region that overlooks the mighty Columbia River and town of Wenatchee, WA. Recognizing the fertile soils and ideal climate of the region, the Mathisons planted their first 10 acres of apples, pears, and cherries in the mid 1900s. Today, the fourth and fifth generations of Mathisons continue the family farming tradition. They grow a variety of tree fruits in eastern Washington, including their exclusive apple variety, Pinata. |
