Taylor’s Gold pears are believed to be a natural mutation of the Comice pear variety, or possibly a cross between the Bosc and the Comice. It was first discovered in 1986 by Michael King-Turner in his Riwaka orchard near Nelson, New Zealand. Sweet and juicy with a cinnamon-colored exterior, Taylor’s Gold pears are great for fresh eating, baking, canning and freezing. Taylor’s Gold is still a relatively new pear variety to the U.S.
